Showreel 2010

Here is my new showreel. I'm still missing some things, such as a title sequence for an upcoming feature-film called 'Genius of Beauty' which I designed, animated and directed myself. Plus I was the lead-compositor for another feature film called 'Clockwise', Qatar's first feature film, which I will add when I get it. Also, some projects need to be updated with newer versions.

First Thai wedding

Me, Ken and Nung.


Last week I went to my first Thai wedding when my friend Tae married his wife Ice. Though it was a Christian wedding there were still some cultural elements that were interesting. They had the traditional bouquet toss but with a difference, all the unmarried girls, and guys, each took a separate ribbon attached to the bouquet. Everyone pulled at once and the last one attached was the winner.

There was also a lot of singing by whomever wanted to sing a song to the happy couple. There were Korean missionaries there too, who also sang to the couple, and I guess it was down to either them or their predecessors for the family's conversion to Christianity at some point.

'Clockwise' Tiles

I recently pitched for and won a title sequence for a feature film called 'Clockwise'. This is part funded by Aljazeera and is going to be Qatar's first feature film. Below is the pitch with my designs that a Thai colleague, kendee001.blogspot.com, helped me with.

Shooting in the desert?

Dubai was beautiful, spent most of the time in the desert or in the foothills of Hatta but also got to see the new tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.

Got my first wake-up call at 4:30am and got trundled into a 4x4 with a group of Indian gentlemen whom I barely knew and driven out of the city, through Oman (I was wondering why I needed my passport) and then into Hatta where we met up with the rest of the crew. Off to Dubai next week to shoot a couple of TV commercials for MRF. Have to be back in time for Caitlin's birthday on the 17th!!!
